Soon I'll be leaving for London to begin a 9-day summer vacation. The main reason for the trip is to attend the World Pinball Championship -- IFPA 6 -- in Hemel Hempstead beginning July 31. It's going to be a great tournament I'm sure, much as it was last year when it was held in Las Vegas. 64 players from all over the world are attending for three long days of competitive pinball. The IFPA website may post more details during the tournament, but I don't know.
For the first few days there, I'll be doing other, non-pinball things. It would seem a waste to go that far and not doing any sightseeing, as is normally the case for these types of tournaments. I have no firm plans yet, but many ideas, which I intend to go over during the 7-hour flight. I'm staying in Soho for the first few nights, so there should be no end of things to do.
My last trip to London was over Christmas 2001. I did all of the touristy things then, so I'm not as intent on formulating an agenda. Yes, the London Eye is cool, but I really don't think I need to ride it again. Also I am really looking forward to seeing some of the countryside on the train ride up to the tournament site.
I'll try to post updates here or on Facebook if anything notable happens.
